Police

The New York Mills Police Department is committed to the service and protection of all persons and property throughout the city.  In partnership with the community, the police officers are committed to enhancing the quality of life and promoting a safe and secure environment.  Our police officers are involved in several community projects, including the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Program in the schools.  Our Department, as a part of the National Child Safety Council, sponsors fingerprinting of elementary students each year.  The New York Mills Police Department, in conjunction with the Ronald McDonald House Benefit Ride Committee, assists in a children's Bike Rodeo during the Ride weekend each summer. Their department has worked together with Otter Tail County's Safe Communities Coalition and the New York Mills High School to organize a Mock Crash Event for high school students. They also participate in a Trunk or Treat program to provide safe trick-or-treating to children of the community each year.
The New York Mills Police Department is staffed by three full-time police officers.
